Mastering the Art of Point Sparring
As a martial arts instructor, my ultimate goal is to develop well-rounded, confident, and capable students. One of the ways I achieve this is by preparing my students for point sparring tournaments. I will share my approach to preparing my students for an upcoming point sparring tournament where kicks are worth two points, and punches are worth one point. The first one to score seven points wins.
Bruce Lee once said, “Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.” This quote perfectly sums up my approach to preparing my students for point sparring tournaments. I believe in adapting techniques and strategies that are useful and effective, rejecting those that are not, and adding my own personal touch to ensure my students are well-prepared.
